Remove Facial Hair – Nice and Easy!

Almost everyone has facial hair; it can be on the chin, eyebrows, cheeks or upper lip, but just because it is there does not mean that it is wanted, especially in today’s “picture perfect” society. Different people choose to approach the issue of facial hair in different ways: it is a personal choice whether to accept it or get rid of it. If you are bothered by your facial hair, here are five safe ways you can use to get rid of it:

1)    The Laser hair removal way

Laser hair removal is one of the safest ways used by thousands to get rid of unwanted facial hair. Of course, the word “laser” might send some chills down your spine, but this method of hair removal has been tested and proved to be safe and effective: Laser treatment offers longer lasting results than other hair removal methods.

Laser hair removal utilizes a laser machine to “shoot” a specific wavelength of light onto hair follicles, thus damaging them in the process. The principle behind this treatment is that damaged hair follicles do not grow back as quickly as healthy ones; therefore people who use this method may not experience new hair growth in almost six months, and in some instances the results are permanent.

What makes laser hair removal safe is the fact that it is a non-invasive treatment, which means that there is little damage or side effects. The laser machine is also quite precise, only focusing on hair follicles. Therefore, there is no damage to the skin.

While this form of ‘treatment’ is quite effective, you will need to undergo several sessions to kill the Hair Follicles completely. These sessions can be costly for some people; however, if you compare the long-term or “lifetime” cost of other options such as waxing, you will realize that laser treatment is a money-saving and time-saving alternative.  While you are still thinking of laser treatment, visit Fashion Gone Rogue to find out more on the benefits of laser hair removal and why it would be an excellent option for you.

2)    Wax facial hair off

One common and safe way of getting rid of facial hair is waxing. There are two waxing methods used for facial hair, the use of soft wax, where hairs are applied hot wax then a cloth strip is used to pull the hair out. The other method is the use of hard wax, whereby warm wax applied on the hair is left to harden then pulled out on its own (with hair) after it has hardened. If you are thinking, “ouch!” you are right. Waxing can be very painful, especially on the face where hairs are fine and the skin more sensitive. Waxing can also lead to ingrowth hairs when not correctly carried out, which may lead to skin inflammation.

3)    Tweezing

Tweezers are a standard “cosmetic tool” found in most homes, and thus tweezing is the easiest method used by most peopleto get rid of unwanted facial hair. However, tweezing is only useful in small localized areas like on the chin or eyebrows. The method can also be painful for some people.  It is also essential to make sure that the tweezers are sterile before you start plucking hairs away, to avoid getting a skin infection.

4)    Use of depilatory creams

There was a time when the use of depilatory creams was the least favorite hair removal method for most people, due to their pungent scents and the harsh chemicals in some of them. However, this is no longer the case due to the introduction of safe and fragrance-free depilatory creams. All you need to do to get rid of your unwanted hair is to apply the cream on your desired area and wipe it away with the hairs after some few minutes. If you decide to use these creams, you should do a patch test to make sure that you’re not allergic to some of the chemical components in the cream. Depilatory creams also don’t offer long lasting results such as those offered by laser hair removal.

5)    Shaving

While shaving using a razor may not be a popular way of getting rid of facial hair, it is still one of the safest options used by some people. Hairs cut using a razor may feel pricklier as they grow, as shaving cuts the hair follicle into half as compared to the other options mentioned above which either destroy the follicle or remove the hairs from their roots.  Shaving is also a temporary solution, and you may always have to shave new hair growth.

Imagine you are getting ready for a date or event, and you notice an unruly hair or hairs sticking out from your chin! Yes, the sight would probably bother you, and you may find a quick solution, which might not be safe for your skin. You can spare yourself from the pain and probably side effects of an unsafe hair removal technique by opting to use one of the safe ways of getting rid of unwanted facial hair described here.
